Growing Up

No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. -1 John 3:9 (AMP)

Yesterday's Joyce Meyer e-mail contained the above verse and was titled Learning to Grow Up in the Holy Spirit. It got me to thinking about where I was and where I am now. Not that I don't have along way to go, but through the grace of God and the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, I can some distance between how I was when newly saved, when I rededicated my life to Jesus, and where I am now after a few years of prayer, Christian fellowship and study of His Word.

Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. - 2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP)
